Inspection of Yachts in the Med

May is one of my favorite times of year. This is when I do my annual visit to the Med to inspect the yachts and meet the crew for the summer season. I flew into Nice, France  and then spent the weekend in Antibes.  There was a small boat show in Antibes which gave me a chance to spend time with  crew and catch up with  other industry related freinds. I met up with some Captains and crew with whom I had charters with to review clients preference sheets and review itinerarys prior to their arrival. It also gave me a chance to stroll through the spice market, visit Picasso's museum, and saturate my tastebuds  in the French cuisine.  On Sunday, I traveled to Genoa, Italy for the Mediteranean Yacht Brokers Charter Show . This is one of the most important international exhibitions dedicated to Charter professionals and Superyachts.  The Mediteranean Yacht Brokers Charter Show  is a private event for qualified Yacht brokers and is by invitation only.  This year there were  65 motor yachts and sailing yachts ranging in size from 70' to 240' . There were early morning seminars to keep us up to date on charter laws and taxes. Then the yachts were open daily for inspections while closing from noon to 2:00 pm for lunch. Th eprivate lunches onboard are by invitation only and this gives the chef and crew a chance to shine and put their best foot forward. It is definitley a culinerary experience for me with the display of cutlery and silver and crystal complimented with wine pairing to the multiple  courses served. The evening brings yacht hops onboard the yachts as well as canapes and cocktails and live entertainment.  At the end of the week I flew to Athens, Greece to attend the Charter show for the Greek Yachts. There was an excellent display of yachts along with tasteful lunches and dinners. At the end of th eshow I cruised onboard 120' Motor Yacht  Helios to th eIsland of Spetses. We were taken on a tour of th eIsland by a horse and buggy. The following day the yachts  cruised back to Athens, we all  did some last minute shopping at the Plaka and then flew back to the  US. Be certain to check out our Facebook page to see some pictures of the fun. Meanwhile I look forward to giving you up to date information on yachts in the Med and sharing my favorite yachts and crew along with top cruising areas. And when I am not emailing you with answers to your inquirys,  you will find me in the gym, working off all those gastronimic delights and deserts. Oh, did I mention the wine??
