Pigs, on an Island! Swim with the Nurse Sharks! Anchorage delights....the Exumas...

Looking for the perfect family vacation? Or the perfect getaway with friends? We just had a wonderful mini-charter in the Exumas over the holidays. I had my two kids with me (8 and 2 years old) and they had a blast. The 8 year old was able to do most of the snorkelling activities but they both really enjoyed feeding the pigs and swimming with the nurse sharks. This is a great charter with kids/family or just a bunch of friends!
The Exumas, the Islands of the Bahamas, are separated into three areas, Great Exuma, Little Exuma, and the Exuma Cays. The best way to visit these dream destinations is by chartering a yacht and flying into Nassau. Your captain will lead you and your guests through the lovely blue untouched waters, and with plenty of anchorage space along the way, you are able to sleep in the middle of nowhere with complete tranquillity, sunrises, sunsets, and the view of crystal blue seas surrounding you.
Start with meeting your yacht in Nassau, and spend a day or two exploring Atlantis Resort. Then start cruising South. Your next stop may be Compass Cay, a beautiful small area with a marina that allows you and your guests to swim with the nurse sharks (for a $10.00 fee). Grab a Kalik at the general store, get your snorkles out, and touch the sharks.
Next, anchor out near O’Brien’s Cay where secret wonders hide under the sea. Put your snorkelling gear on and check out the old sunken Cessna plane. Or swim over to the very secluded area (just near Tyler Perry and Johnny Depp’s private islands) and explore nature’s “sea aquarium” with beautiful fish and creatures swimming around you.
Stop at Staniel Cay Yacht club or anchor near by, and have your Captain take you to the popular Pig Island (bring plenty of food, they get hungry!) so you can feed and swim with the pigs. There are several little piglets cruising around so the kids love to play with the little ones. Staniel Cay Yacht Club has a great little bar and offers tasty conch fritters and yummy cocktails!
Further South (just a tad), you can tender into Chat n Chill, a secluded little area to feed the Manatees. Just outside of Georgetown, Bahamas, this is a nice area to take the kids, feed the manatees, and chill out on the hammocks. Don’t forget to check out the cute little gift shop!
Whatever your dream destination is, the Exumas has a ton to offer. We would be happy to create your own itinerary and get you booked on your perfect yacht!
There are plenty of April and Spring Break specials in the Bahamas going on right now! Be sure to check our Facebook pages for specials.
