Bonjour! Did you know cruising the French Riviera (Cote d’azur) is one of our most popular yachting destinations? From glamorous events, elegant architecture, rich history, and beautiful beaches located from Monaco down to Toulon, guests have raved about this area for many years. Check out some of our favorite things-to-do in this area along with some of our featured yachts to charter here.
Love glitz and glam? Home of the world’s most glamorous film festival, Cannes is a hot spot for shopping and boutique brands. La Croisette is the beachside boardwalk that’s lined with flagship stores featuring Gucci, Chanel, Dior, and Louis Vuitton. The opulent center in Monte Carlo also features luxury stores like Yves Saint-Laurent, Fendi, Cartier, Bvlgari, and Prada. The Metropole Shopping Center is another must-visit for style conscious guests. Built in the late 1980s, it features marbled floors, crystal chandeliers, and concierge services. Everything from clothing and jewelry boutiques to cosmetics, fragrances, and fine foods and sweets can be found here.
Be sure to visit Monte Carlo’s famous Casino, one of the most exclusive gambling venues in the world. It’s one of Monaco's most exciting attractions, so even if you don’t gamble, you can still take a tour (and definitely get a selfie in front of the magnificent iconic building!)
Immerse yourself in all things marine life at the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco. Located on the Monaco Rock, just behind Monaco’s Old Town, this monumental building was built over a century ago to promote and preserve the treasures in the marine ecosystem. There are over 6,000 specimens of Mediterranean and tropical fish living in the aquariums at this museum. “Shark Lagoon” is a must see as it holds 450,000 liters of seawater and contains a coral reef since 1989. Experience the petting a shark on your way out! Then, visit the Rothschild Gardens Villa Ephrussi overlooking the Bay of Villefranche and the Bay of Beaulieu. Cruise to St. Jean or Villefranche then take a short car ride to gardens or arrange transport from Monaco. It is located 10 kilometres (approx. 7 miles) from Nice and Monaco.
If you love history and culture, visit Nice and explore the old town featuring Italian-style buildings, shopping, and sites like the former residence of French painter Henri Matisse. The Nice Cathedral is an iconic building built in the 17th century with a lavish baroque design. It features ten ornate chapels with sculptures, paintings and gilding and looks like it would belong in Italy or Spain. The Promenade des Anglais is one of the most prominent attractions, stretching for seven kilometers with beautiful views of the azure sea.
Last but not least, the sandy wide beaches of St. Tropez are not to be missed. Pampelonne Beach is the most iconic, featuring turquoise waters and glamorous private clubs and restaurants. It’s the place to “see and be seen”. If you prefer a quieter beach, check out Plage des Salins. There’s a small marsh behind this beach offering a popular place for local wildlife to congregate.
